When you think of farm or home, the food served at home usually appears in your minds eye. Families have their favorites, traditional dishes handed down to each generation by sharing them at the table. Shared on the holidays or served up for Sunday suppers, each home-cooked meal celebrates the family; past, present, and future.
Food is one of those amazing elements that connects us. It connects families who share meals together for Sunday supper and brings together friends for holiday celebrations. Food even unites strangers on blogs into a community simply by sharing what they love to eat.
When I think of the meals that I prepare for my family, especially for dinner, they all feel lovingly familiar. They are the same meals I remember sharing each week growing up around my grandmother's farm table. Now, when my children come home from college, it's into the kitchen, noses in the air to sniff what's cooking, seeking out that home-cooked meal they've been missing.
Using your vintage and antique collectibles can bring the greatest joy. The kitchen is one of the best places to explore these possibilities.
My blog posts will be a source of inspiration on just how to celebrate your collections using some favorite foods as a catalyst.
Around here, those farmhouse feelings are most often stirred by our "food heritage." Pennsylvania Dutch cooking and baking is our family legacy. Nix Besser - there is nothing better! No other food genre exceeds the comfort of PA Dutch food. These are scientifically proven opinions! The list of favorites is lengthy: pork and sauerkraut, red beet eggs, rivel soup, fastnachts, and whoopie pies. I love every one, The possibilities are endless and I hope to share some of the highlights with all of you. Scroll to share in some of our favorites!
